Abstract concepts are those for which there is no physical referent; concepts with physical referents are known as concrete concepts. Abstract concepts include happiness, freedom, good and evil, love, dreams, success and morality.
Philosophers are often interested in abstract concepts because they raise issues of ontology and sensory experience. Some philosophers, beginning with Plato, have argued that abstract concepts are the primary subject to be studied in philosophy or metaphysics.<br>
Abstract thinking is a level of thinking about things that is removed from the facts of the “here and now”, and from specific examples of the things or concepts being thought about. Abstract thinkers are able to reflect on events and ideas, and on attributes and relationships separate from the objects that have those attributes or share those relationships.
For example a concrete thinker can identify that Jack likes Jill, where as an abstract thinker contemplates the nature of relationships
